Filters adhesives
Air, cabin, gas turbine and water filter pleating, spiral coating and end capping.
What this line needs from a hot melt
A filter is only as good as its seams. Every pleat that drifts, every end cap that does not seal fully and every bead that outgasses into a clean room is a filter that does not do its job.
We supply air, cabin, gas turbine and water filter grades — two-line pleating, spiral coating, mini-pleat assembly and end cap potting — including a grade that passes the global migration test for chlorinated water.
Tell us this much
The more of this you can give us, the more useful our first reply will be.
- Media type and whether it is treated
- Pleat pitch and pack length, or end cap dimensions
- Service temperature — cabin, industrial or gas turbine
- Water or chemical contact, and whether migration testing is required
- Clean room classification, if applicable
If this is happening on your line
The faults we are called out to most often in filters, what actually causes them, and the grade we would put on the line.
Pleat spacing drifts along the pack
Why it happens. Bead placement or viscosity not holding the pleat until it sets.
What we would do. UPT-3191 for two-line pleating on air filters, 5,000 cPs @ 180°C.
The adhesive discolours the filter media
Why it happens. A yellow-toned grade against white or light media.
What we would do. UPT-3419, a transparent white grade for spiral coating on gas turbine filters.
Air bypasses at the end cap
Why it happens. The adhesive sets before the media has fully seated into the cap.
What we would do. F-3841 — long open time for end cap joining, and it passes the global migration test for chlorinated water, which matters for water filter cartridges.
Outgassing in a clean room build
Why it happens. A grade with too much volatile content for the classification.
What we would do. UPT-3130, developed for mini-pleat assembly of clean room filters.
Polypropylene cartridge components will not bond
Why it happens. EVA cannot wet untreated PP.
What we would do. UPT-6229, a polyolefin grade for PP component fixing in water filter cartridges.
