Tapes & Labels adhesives
Pressure-sensitive grades for tapes, labels, courier bags, wrap-around labelling and flooring.
What this line needs from a hot melt
Pressure-sensitive hot melts have to do something unusual: stay permanently tacky and still be coatable, wound into a roll, and unwound months later without oozing at the edge. The balance between tack, peel and shear is the whole job.
We supply pressure-sensitive grades for tapes, labels, courier bags and flooring, plus wrap-around labelling and heat-seal coatings for textile and film lamination.
Tell us this much
The more of this you can give us, the more useful our first reply will be.
- Coat weight in gsm and coating method
- Facestock and liner
- Peel versus shear priority for the end use
- Storage and service temperature
- Whether transparency or non-yellowing is required
If this is happening on your line
The faults we are called out to most often in tapes & labels, what actually causes them, and the grade we would put on the line.
Adhesive oozes at the edge of the roll in storage
Why it happens. Cold flow — the grade is too soft for the wound tension and the storage temperature.
What we would do. A higher softening point PSA such as UPT-4158 (120°C), which stays transparent and strong.
Label lifts from a curved or textured surface
Why it happens. Not enough initial tack to conform before the bond sets.
What we would do. UPT-4037, a high strength tall oil rosin ester grade used on courier bags, flooring tapes and labels.
The adhesive yellows over months
Why it happens. An ageing-sensitive resin system under light.
What we would do. Water-white grades — UPT-4284 for general purpose, UPT-4158 where transparency matters.
Coating weight is inconsistent across the web
Why it happens. Viscosity drifting at the coating head, or the wrong grade for the coating method.
What we would do. Tell us the coat weight in gsm and the method — slot, roll or spray — and we will match the viscosity to it.
