Research & development
A pilot plant, a formulation team and an equipment works — under one company.
Ahead of the requirement, not behind it
We stay alert to the changing needs and dynamics of the industries we serve. Every year our team develops a number of new hot melt adhesive products built around what customers are actually struggling with on the line.
Our R&D team has commissioned a pilot plant for polyamide hot melt adhesives. Several formulations are already in test.
Through the same programme we now manufacture hot melt dispensing equipment, so we can recommend the ideal adhesive and back it with the correct machine to apply it.
Custom formulation
Bring us a bond that fails, a cost target you cannot hit, or a substrate nobody wants to touch. We formulate against the brief, sample it, and scale it to production.
New chemistries
Polyamide grades — developed for parts that see heat or hydrocarbon contact, such as automotive filters and under-bonnet interiors. Tell us the fluid and the peak temperature and we will trial a grade.
Conversion programmes
We work with organisations moving to environment-friendly hot melt technology from solvent systems — fine-tuning the product and the process together.
Polyamide hot melt adhesives
Two tracks running together: imported polyamide grades we can supply today, and our own indigenous grades coming out of the pilot plant.
Imported polyamides for sale
6 grades are published with full specifications — softening points from 110°C to 195°C, and low temperature flexibility down to about −40°C.
- Low temperature moulding grade in natural / amber colour
- Low temperature moulding grade in black colour
- High temperature moulding grade in natural / amber colour
- High temperature moulding grade in black colour
- Fuel filter grade to withstand high temperatures
- Fuel filter grade for low temperatures
- Air filters
- Air filters for high temperatures (post cured media)
- For low temperature applications (−30°C)
- Low viscosity potting grade in amber and black colours
- Heat shrink cables
Indigenously manufactured polyamides
Several polyamide types have been formulated in our laboratory and tested. Pilot plant trials are underway. The grades below are development formulations from the pilot plant — not yet released for sale.
| Grade | Viscosity | Softening point | Colour | Low temperature flexibility | Intended application |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DEV-F-1 | 2,000 – 8,000 cPs @200°C | 130 ± 10°C | Amber | approx. −5°C | Glue sticks / air filters |
| DEV-F-2 | 2,500 – 6,000 cPs @210°C | 150 ± 10°C | Amber | approx. −20°C | Low pressure moulding for the electronics industry |
| DEV-F-3 | 4,000 – 8,000 cPs @200°C | 130 ± 10°C | Amber | approx. −30°C | Fuel filters |
| DEV-F-4 | 2,000 – 6,000 cPs @200°C | 120 ± 10°C | Amber | approx. −40°C | Heat shrink cables |
| DEV-F-5 | 10,000 – 15,000 cPs @200°C | 130 ± 5°C | Amber | Brittle | Packaging |
| DEV-F-6 | 4,000 – 7,000 cPs @200°C | 120 ± 5°C | Amber | approx. −10°C | Air filters |
| DEV-F-7 | 2,000 – 4,000 cPs @200°C | 100 ± 10°C | Amber | approx. −30°C | Air filters / heat shrink cables |
A dedicated manufacturing plant for polyamide hot melt adhesives is planned. If one of these looks right for your line, ask us for a pilot plant sample.
